My Grandma’s 5 Golden (Business Logo) Rules

My Grandma’s 5 Golden (Business Logo) Rules

1.  Choose the right color.

Colors are non-verbal communication.  Do your colors convey the communication needed? Are your colors engaging?  Will they be impactful and memorable?  Additionally, don’t put gray on gray. Contrast is very important.

2.  Make sure your logo or brand icon is a realistic representation of the meaning of your message.

It’s a part of your brand identity. It is your brand mark.  Your business logo should be attractive, memorable, bold, and EASY to read. Did you notice that depressed business owners like depressing colors?  Is it true that the world looks gray when you are depressed?  You may want to appeal to depressed and angry people.

3.  Have a tag line.

Make it a part of your logo. Make sure that it delivers the right message and your customers will remember it forever.  When possible make it your call to action.

4.  Make sure your logo is easy on the eyes and easy to read. Choose the font, shape, and contrast wisely.

5.  Hire a professional to design it. A good graphic designer should connect with you, your brand, and your vision emotionally and mentally.
